My Mother-in Law Carol Monahan loved food. She loved preparing it. She loved eating it. She loved sharing it with the people she loved. I remember so many wonderful meals spent in Carol and John's family room at Rehoboth Beach, filled with sunlight by day and warmed by a cozy fire in evening... but most of all full of fun fascinating conversation and laughter. Carol was one of those people who was organically talented in the kitchen, knowing instinctively when a few sprigs of rosemary or a dollop of sour cream would enhance a dish just the right way. Everything she made it seems-- from the simplest salad to the most elaborate pasta-- looked as good as it tasted. Like most families, Carol made sure the dinner table was the center of home Life... a place for both reconnecting and recollecting.
I was, of course, a nervous wreck when I first visited the Monahans at "The Beach". But they immediately made me feel like I had known them all forever. I was so happy to be marrying into such a wonderful family. I'm grateful that Carol was my Mother-in-Law, grateful for making Jay who he was, and for giving me him to love, even for too short a time. I miss them both more than words can say.
Carol cared deeply about her community, her faith, her friends, and most of all her family. She would love for you to enjoy this book, and all the good things in it... as I would.
